Foldable slippers
Wool has been dressing humans for more than 10,000 years. Since cheaper substitutes appeared – a synthetic fiber, wool products have stopped being cost-effective. And that's a shame, because each sheep produces enough wool for about six sweaters a year. In this era of "fast fashion" and constantly changing trends, it is not uncommon for footwear made of synthetics to be worn a few times, and then become waste left in the environment. Synthetic fabrics also contribute to pollution during use, the so-called "microplastic" - fragments of the synthetic are released into the water when the clothes are washed.
The design of the natural felt slippers was based on two motivations. The first is a tribute to local heritage and Polish shepherd culture, which for centuries has provided people with an ecological material that naturally decomposes after time of use. Slippers are also an inherent part of Polish identity, symbolizing home comfort, family warmth, or hospitality, which is why they are the object that brings together the right answers to contemporary challenges facing culture or local identity.
